Happy Retirement! - Tucson Event Photographer

Let me just say that I love Acacia. Great ambiance, great food, great location...and I was so happy to photograph a great event there last weekend. Events are really fun for me. Oftentimes the event organizer wants candid pictures of the occasion, so I get to hang out like a fly on the wall snapping away with my camera. This event was even more up my alley because I was able to photograph the food too (stay tuned for a myriad of my personal food pics in an upcoming blog). After a super long time with his company Bobby celebrated his retirement with friends and family at this lovely restaurant on Skyline. His guests had such a fun time and the food was so pretty it just had to be photographed. Well, congratulations Bobby and I hope you enjoy your retirement!

What (Not) to Wear - Tucson Photographer

I get asked this question ALL the time..."So what should we wear?"

My standard reply comes from one of my favorite shows, TLC's What Not to Wear. Stacey, one of the shows hosts, hates overly matching clothes (think red shirt, black pants, red hair tie, black shoes, and black purse on an individual, or in a group every one wearing the same color shirts and pants).  I tell all my clients to think "coordinating" not "matchy-matchy." Here are a few great examples of what this might look like...

I tend to recommend wearing layered or bright clothing which tend to photograph really well. Accessories such as belts, scarves, or jewelry also work great! If you'd like some more ideas (on actual people rather than just the clothes!), please see this family session.

For some people picking out great clothes comes totally naturally. Like my best friend...she just steps out of bed, grabs an awesome outfit and heads out the door. Me, I have to work really hard just to make sure my clothes go together...and dressing my kids...that's a whole other matter. Thank goodness for guides like these! :)

A Family of Six - Tucson Family Photographer

I said this on my facebook page last week, but I had such a fun time with this family. They are so much fun, so full of energy, and so, so nice (in fact we waited about ten minutes to start the shoot because dad was trying to help a poor couple who was lost!). My first question to mom was, "What is your life like with four kids?" her response was ""It's great! But I spend a lot of time in the car!" :)

We had our photo shoot in a really versatile location. It has the option of feeling very "Tucson-like", but also has the option of feeling industrial and even a little urban-chic. Because this family has lived in Tucson for many years and has tons of pictures with cactus in the background, mom decided on an industrial feel to her pics. I just love the way they turned out! Hope you enjoy!
